The National Nutrition Council (NNC) held its joint national convention of nutrition action officers and district/city nutrition program coordinators last Oct. 5 and 6 at the SMX Convention Center.
Focusing on its theme “One Nutrition, One Nation,” the conference was held together with the celebration of NNC’s 35th anniversary, and sought to cement the bonds of nutrition workers and achieve the goals of the One Nutrition Movement. The NNC Convention also aimed to address the issues and concerted efforts for the alleviation of malnutrition and hunger in the Philippines.
About 2,000 delegates attended the event, which was also organized toward the accomplishment of one of the goals of the United Nation Millennium Development Goal, which is to reduce hunger by half in 2015.
Discussions about hunger mitigation efforts and actions for the improvement of nutrition as stated in the Updated Medium-Term Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition were also conducted in the two-day confab.
