The Philippines hosted the 15th Asian-Pacific Corrosion Control Conference held on October 18-21, 2009 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
The event organized by the Philippine Corrosion Society, in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology, drew delegates from different countries such as Japan, New Zealand, India, United States of America, United Kingdom, and Korea who made presentations and discussed issues focusing on this year’s theme: “Corrosion Control Research and Technology and their Applications in the Industry.”
The conference aims to further the awareness of corrosion control and conservation of material resources throughout the Asian-Pacific region, to provide a forum for exchange of knowledge and hold discussion and conferences every after three (3) years within the Asian Pacific region and to provide in the future a facility for the chanelling of technical information exchange and assistance.
The roster of speakers includes Kyoo Yong Kim, Ph.D., Professor, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Korea; Graeme Jones, Managing Director, Structural Healthcare Limited, United Kingdom; Jun’ichi Sakai, Ph.D., Professor, Waseda University and President, JSCE, Japan; Keith A. Lichti, Principal Corrosion Consultant, Quest Reliability, Inc. New Zealand; Tony Keane, Executive Director, NACE International, USA; V.S. Raja, Ph.D, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India; Marish Madlangbayan, Civil Engineering Department, UP Los BaƱos Philippines; Edwin Olmos, University of Asia and the Pacific, Philippines.
The Asian-Pacific Corrosion Control Council is an academic, non-profit organization which was founded in 1979 to promote the developments of corrosion science and anti-corrosion engineering and to promote academic exchange and cooperation among corrosion scientists and engineers in different countries.
