History in Sync: Connecting the Philippines through History

The Philippine National Historical Society (PNHS) held its 30th National Conference on Local and National History at the Holy Name University in Tagbilaran City, Bohol last Oct. 22–24, aiming to encourage systematic studies on local and national histories.

Carried by its theme “Towards a National History: Local History in the Context of National History,” the three-day gathering of historians was also geared toward looking at research and writings on the various regions of the country, locate these works in the context of Philippine history as a whole, and single out gaps that may be addressed through further research. Papers on certain topics of social sciences and humanities were also presented in the conference.
