The global economy, after experiencing a steady meltdown in the past year, is starting to have glimpses of a slow recovery and promises of more sustainability and stability in the following years.
In this precept, the Association of Development Financial Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) organized the sixth International CEO Forum, held at the Dusit Thani Manila last Oct. 28 and 29. The Development Bank of the Philippines hosted the event, together with the Land Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Export Import Credit Agency, and Planters Development Bank.
Carried by its theme “Leading the Recovery: Environmental, Social, and Governance Imperatives for DFIs,” the forum discussed development fund sources, corporate governance, climate change adaptation and mitigation, migrant workers remittances, and financial inclusion, as well as the catalytic role of DFIs in their respective economies.
Two separate seminars were also conducted for each day of the forum, the first one about Islamic banking and finance, entitled “Banking without Interest,” which was jointly sponsored by the ADFIAP, MNY Consulting Sdn Bhd Malaysia, and Gov. Jose B. Fernandez, Jr. of the Center Banking and Finance of the Asian Institute of Management.
The second seminar was a training workshop on the evaluation and management of environmental and social risks in lending and investment practices. This whole-day lecture was organized by the ADFIAP in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative.
The International CEO Forum was supported by The Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM), Local Water Utilities Administration, the Postal Bank, CGK Formaprint Inc., and the Philippine International Convention Center.
The ABS-CBN News Channel, Business World, and Writers Edge Inc. were the media partners for this two-day forum.
