The national and regional officers of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), together with the regional directors of the CHED Zonal Research Centers (ZRCs), convened for the National Conference on Research in Higher Education (NCRHE) at the Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City last November 12–13, 2009.
With the theme “Empowering Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Research for Global Competitiveness” the said conference aims to strengthen research utilization, dissemination, networking, monitoring of past efforts, and providing directions to create a community of researchers aiming for the improvement of their competitiveness.
As the ZRC for Central Luzon, Dr. Roberto Pagulayan, Ms Sherry Mendoza, Mr. Arnold Bucud and Ms. Nell Rodriguez represented Angeles University Foundation(AUF). Dr. Evelyn Labastilla represented Tarlac State University, Dr. Rene Reyes and Dr. Rufino Borjal both from the Central Luzon State University - CHED Program Cluster Implementor also participated.
The Best Paper Award was given to the paper entitled “Conchological and anatomical studies of selected Philippine cone snails” that was published in the international journal Vita Malacologica. It was co-authored by Dr. Zenaida Baoanan of University of the Philippines (UP) – Baguio, Dr. Dan Lagunzad and Dr. Lourdes Cruz of U.P. Diliman, and Dr. Pagulayan of AUF.
