Philippine Pediatric Dental Society 7th Biennial Conference

In line with this primary objective - to make the Philippine dental industry stronger, the Philippine Pediatric Dental Society Inc. (PPDSI) recently concluded the seventh biennial conference of the PDAA at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The theme of the conference was “Strengthening the Ties that Bind Pediatric Oral Care.”

Conducted last July 7 and 8, the PPDSI played host to dentists from all over the world, who came to the convention for the latest updates and trends on all fields concerning pediatric dentistry. World-renowned speakers and lecturers have been invited to grace the event, including Prof. Monty Duggal from the Leeds Dental Institute in the United Kingdom, who discussed the restoration for children’s teeth, including minimal intervention, pulp therapy, and endodontics.

A $350 convention fee was charged for participants, but local dentists were only requested to pay Php8000.

Soroptimists International of the Philippines 22nd Biennial Conference

Last May 20 to 23, 2010, the Soroptimists International of the Philippines Region (SIPR) (A Foundation) Inc. celebrated its 22nd Biennial Conference at the Fontana Leisure Parks, Clarkfield Pampanga.

Ms. Carmen A. Flor, SIPR Governor, recognized the conference as a celebration of the varied accomplishments of SIPR clubs throughout the country. The conference was also a showcase of the best of the 2010 SIPR from the approved new SIPR Bylaws – the merger of the SIPR Foundation and SIPR official by the Securities and Exchange Commission, SIPR Clubs’ support to SIPR Dream Raffles, and SIPR members’ support to the Disaster Relief Fund and Sampaguita and Laurel Societies, to the “SIPR Club Grant” that will provide startup capital for the micro-enterprises for the women in the barangays.

On the other hand, the Unsung Women Heroes Award, which is SIPR’s signature program, again presented outstanding women that extended their hand in uplifting the well-being of women and girls in the communities. Some of the awardees were Ms. Agnesita S. Espiritu, Dr. Christina L. Santos, Ms. Eden M. Reyes, Ms. Patricia Anne P. Gallardo, Ms. Ellen C. Batisan, Ms. Emerenciana S. Tuliao, and Ms. Rosalinda G. Dagcasin.

10th WCEC Shared the “Link” to Chinese-Filipino Community

As it reached its 10th biennial conference, this time, World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) shared its partnership to the Chinese-Filipino Community.

Last November 19 to 22, 2009, the 10th WCEC bearing its theme “World Prosperity through Chinese Entrepreneurship” gathered over 3,000 Chinese entrepreneurs from 22 countries to further cultivate the relationships of Chinese entrepreneurs around the world.

This four-day event held in SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, Manila was hosted and organized by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), an organization that strengthens its commitment as a partner in nation-building.

Mr. Lucio Tan, one of the prominent Chinese-Filipino business magnate in the Philippines, who was also the convention’s over-all chairman, welcomed and set everyone into the “learning” ambience that the whole convention could have from his fellow Chinese and Filipino co-speakers’ viewpoints. He highlighted points that could be brought up by the entrepreneurial link or partnership in the convention. “…since most Chinese businessmen are in search of investment opportunities…with so much interest in mining, why bypass the Philippines?” he said. He actually capitalized that mineral exploration will feed China’s ever-growing appetite for raw materials for its pre-productions’ progresses.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Former President of the Philippines, together with Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee (CCPCC) of People’s Republic of China (PRC), Huang Mengfu, Chairman of All China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Alfonso Uy, President of the FFCCCII, and Francis Chua, Chairman of the 10th WCEC Organizing Committee also spoke for the event’s ceremony.
