6th National Convention of Solemnizing Officers (6NCSO)

The National Statistics Office - Office of the Civil Registrar General conducted the  the 6th National Convention of Solemnizing Officers (6NCSO) at the SMX Convention, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City on August 4-6, 2009.

The event was opened to various religious sects and denominations, local government officials, and members of the judiciary.

In ths event, the priests, pastors, imams, and other solemnizing officers engaged in discussions with the government body to talk about the implementation of marriage laws and registration procedures.
The three-day conference invited speakers coming from various fields. Among the speakers were Civil Registrar General and Director of United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific Tomas P. Africa, Atty. Gaby Concepcion, and  Director Rosalinda C. Celeste of NSO-Caraga
Marriage documents were discussed by Commission on Filipinos Overseas Executive Director Jose Maria J. Palabrica and  President and  Chief Executive Officer of the Social Security System, Hon. Romulo L. Neri regarding migration and pensions respectively.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Gen. Victor S. Ibrado and Philippine Nikkei-Jin Mutual Foundation Executive Director Reynaldo Dacones tackled the uses of marriage documents.   
Senior Special Assistant Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. from the Office of the Undersecretary, Department of Foreign Affairs was the resource person on registration of marriages abroad, while Agnes VST Devanadera, Acting Secretary of Justice and Solicitor General shared her knowledge on court decrees and legal instruments affecting marriage documents.

The event was ended with testimonials of experiences while guests were entertained by presentations from the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) Chorale and Cultural Dance Troupe, students from the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), and the NSO Chorale.
