The Institute for Development and Econometric Analysis Inc. (IDEA) and the Business World, presents the IDEA Midyear Economic Briefing last August 5, 2009 at the UP School of Economics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Q.C.
With the theme, “Recession or Recovery: What Comes After the Storm”, the convention tackled a wide-ranged of topics on how to overcome the recession era.
Topics discussed include: “When is the Recovery from the Crisis?” as presented by the Chairman of IDEA and Professor of the UP School of Economics Cayetano W. Paderanga, Ph. D. which focused on the root cause of the global economic crisis and how it affected the country; “Prospects on OFW Deployment and Remittances Inflow” discussed by Mr. Ernesto M. Pernia, Ph. D., UP School of Economics Professor and Director of Public Affairs which focused on how has OFW deployment and remittances buoyed the country’s growth; and “Prospects on Industries: Household and Consumption” interpreted by the Executive Director of Pulse Asia and President of IDEA Ana Maria L. Tabunda, Ph. D discovering the impacts of economic crises on household comsumption.
