The Tour of Hope 2010 Bike for a Cause

Bravehearts presented the Tour of Hope Fighting Cervical Cancer in Full Circle last March 20 to 24, as they travel and push pedal in a 300 kilometer cycling tour from Makati City to Baguio City.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women worldwide, with 500,000 new cases and 250,000 deaths reported each year. Over 80% of cases occur in developing countries including the Philippines but cervical cancer can be treated if diagnosed early.

In its third year, the tour of hope continues to be a vehicle for men and women in inspiring others as they help spread cervical cancer awareness among Filipinas. Proceeds of the said event were donated to the Cancer Institute Philippines for Cervical Cancer Prevention Network (CECAP). Originally done in Thailand, the tour started locally 3 years ago with about 45 core riders from Vigan to Subic Bay. Last year they had 70 core riders that rode from Alabang to Camarines Sur.

This very special event will not be a complete success without the support from CECAP, the Cancer Institute, GlaxoSmithKline Philippines, Team David’s Salon, Smart Communications, the Manila Bulletin, The Manila Times, Health Today, Metro Magazine, Creative Juice, and Geiser Maclang.
