Last March 12 to 14, 2010, 98 delegates from 28 different institutions gathered together at the 3rd Fund Managers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (FMAP) Annual Convention held at Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa.
The convention shared their theme “Year of the Metal Tiger: Predator or Prey?” aiming to provide clearer future and color to 2010 prospective. It was also attended by the convention’s Keynote Speaker Dr. Jesus Estanislao, Chair of the Institute of Corporate Directors, who urged to be the investigators of change in the area of Philippine corporate governance development.
Other speakers of the event include Ms. Luca Silipo, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific from Natixis Bank on the European Union, the United States and overall prospects for the Philippines; Mr. Sameer Goel of Deutsche Bank on the Global Bond of Market; Mr. Jojo Gonzales of Philippine Equity Partners (PEP) on the Philippine Equities Market; Mr. Tuck Yin Soong of Macquarie Capital on REITS (giving brief description of the Singapore’s and HongKong’s experiences on REAITs and how he envisions Philippine REITS to develop; Mr. Wen Yin from Barclays Capital on the Structured Products; and, Mr. Nitin Jaiswal from Bloomberg on the Different Tools and Indicators Available through the Bloomberg platform.
The Fund Managers Association of the Philippines or FMAP was established in April of 1997 with the mission of fostering the development of the capital and financial markets, in particular, the fund management industry.
Other highlight of the convention was the Fund Managers’ Night where fund managers and their partners in the industry.
