The 1st World Creative Youth Forum 2009 was themed as “One Life One Earth,” aimed at empowering the youth action and participation towards sustainable development.
The event was held at the University of the Philippines-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) and Expo-Centro, Cubao on May 5-10, 2009.
The event was in promotion of the worldwide advocacy by the United Nation’s Decade of Education for Sustainable Development for 2005-2014.
Sub-themes of the 1st Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) 2009 were Peace andHuman Rights, Climate Change, Sustainable Lifestyle, Social Entrepreneurship and Ethical Living & Technology.
The forum highlighted the importance of development through conflict resolution from a global context down to the family. The event aimed on educating the youth to produce solutions to the alarming global situation regarding peace, poverty, environment, health, and natural catastrophies.
About 200 individuals from 180 organizations worldwide participated the forum. Coutries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Costa Rica, Australia, Japan, Korea, Canada, Kenya and the Philippines, among others, got involved in the first world youth forum.
The event was made possible by Brotherhood of Destiny (BROOD), UNESCO, Children of the Earth and other organizing partners.
