The Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the 18th South Luzon Area Business Conference on May 15-16, 2009 at the La Piazza Ballroom, Avenue Plaza Hotel, Naga City.
The conference themed as “Weathering the Crisis In South Luzon Economies” discussed issues about the 2009 economy, tourism, services, franchising, and infrastructure which may have been affected by the global economic crisis.
The event welcomed delegates from different regions. The first day’s keynote speaker, Governor Joey Sarte Salceda of Albay, Presidential Economic Adviser and Chairman, Regional Development Council talked about “Economic Outlook for 2009.”
Plenary speakers in the second day were Lourdes Sereno, Executive Director, AIM-Policy Center and Engr. Luis Banua, RDC Secretary, ARD, NEDA V.
Among other topics discussed in the event were on Business Opportunities in Tourism and Services, and Franchising; Infrastructure Updates; Opportunities in Franchising; and Free Open Sourceware as presented by various discussants.
Mr. Uwe Sturman, Project Manager, Private Sector Promotion Program, GTZ also was a resource speaker in the event. He discussed on “Assessing LGU Potential and Enhancing Local Competitiveness in Tourism”
