Medical Practitioners, Health Officials Met for eHealth and Telemedicine Philippines 2009

Hospital administrators, medical practitioners, government health officers, and other healthcare providers joined the First Philippine eHealth and Telemedicine Conference and Exhibition (eHealth and Telemedicine Philippines 2009) held last May 8-9, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila Hotel in Quezon City.

Organized by the University of the Philippines Manila, National Telehealth Center and Media G8way Corporation, the conference and exhibition aims to give stakeholders a deeper understanding and appreciation of the field of electronic health and telemedicine and its potential impact on Philippine society. Furthermore, it seeks to create awareness on the latest eHealth and telemedicine technology and services in the market.

Department of Science and Technology Undersecretary Fortunato "Boy" Dela Peña, Senate Committee on Science and Technology Chairman Senator Edgardo J. Angara, UP Manila Chancellor Dr. Ramon L. Arcadio, Commission on Information and Communications Technology Commissioner, Angeloe Timoteo Diaz de Rivera; and National Telehealth Center director Dr. Alvin Marcelo graced with their presence the eHealth and Telemedicine Philippines 2009.

Topics discussed during the event include electronic health records, laboratory information systems, imaging solutions, capacity-building for ehealth and telemedicine, public health informatics, medical and nursing education, and an introduction of various telemedicine products and services.
