Philippines hosted 2010 8th Asia Pacific Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Meeting held at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu City last February 24 to 27, 2010.
Specifically, the hosting organization for the event was the Philippine Musculoskeletal Tumor Society lead by Dr. Cesar Cipriano L. Dimayuga, PMTS President together with the event’s organizing committee lead by Dr. Edward H. M. Wang, APMTS President, and also the organizing committee’s Over-all Chair.
This year’s theme for the meeting revolved around the “Improving Morbidity for Soft Tissue Sarcoma: The Therapeutic Ratio Treatment of Osteosarcoma in Developing Countries”. Along with this theme were the event’s state of the arts topics including Osteosarcoma (Medical Management, Clinical Research for Improvement of Survival, and Surgical Margins), Low Grade Malignancies of Sacrum (Principles in Treatment, and Non-surgical and Surgical Management), Musculoskeletal Oncology in the Asia Pacific Region (Japan, Malaysia, Australia, and Turkey), Chemotherapy, Pelvic Tumors, Long-term Results and Complications of Biologic Reconstruction (Recycled Autograft using Pateurization or Autoclaving, Large Segment Allograft, Ilizarov and Liquid Nitrogen, and Cryosurgery for Bone Tumors), Cutting Edge Basic Research (Giant Cell Tumor, Chondrosarcoma, Osteosarcoma), Soft Tissue Sarcoma, Outcomes/Margins, Tumor Prosthesis, Giant Cell Tumor of Bone, and Metastatic Bone Disease.
