The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) hosted the 28th Annual Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) International Airports Association (AAA) Meeting.
The event was attended by at least 20 foreign delegates representing international airports of ASEAN: the Brunei International Airport; PT Angkasa Pura II, Indonesia, Lao Airport Authority, Laos; Changi Airport, Singapore; Airports of Thailand; Northern Airports Corp., Vietnam; and, Malaysia Airport, and was held at the Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Manila last February 23 to 26, 2010.
The ASEAN AAA focused on crucial factors for airport development: airport capacity and airport leadership. According to MIAA General Manager Alfonso G. Cusi, visualizing improvements in services in today’s economic activities should include all the other needs of the passengers while they are in the airports.
The four-day meeting together with the delegates of other ASEAN International Airports discussed the Cost Effective Global Airport Development, as well as Strategic Planning for Airport Development; Quality Management System for Institutional Airport Improvement; Character Building for Airport Workers; and Global Trends in Airport Capacity Building.
The topic which was about adapting to a policy of requiring low-cost carriers (LCCs) to return a portion of forfeited ticket price collected from “no-show” passengers was also reached out at the meeting.
