Thousands of guests flocked the Event Centre of SM City Clark in Pampanga to see the products and learn about the tourist destinations in the northern region during the 3rd North Philippines Tourism and Travel Expo (NorthPhilExpo) 2008 held last November 14 to 16, 2008.
The travel expo, presented by the Department of Tourism Region I, II, III, and CAR Regional Offices is meant to harness the ‘touristic’ strengths and opportunities available in the four contiguous regions in the north, namely Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordilleras, and showcase them all in one roof for potential tourists to see for themselves what these regions have to offer even before they decide to travel. Each region showcased their favorite tourism destinations in vivid photographs and videos, cultural events and street-dancing contingents, plus their own local trade exhibits.
During the three-day event, themed “Go North! A Wellspring of Diversity”, visitors checked out more than 100 travel-related booths, showcasing each region’s different products and services. Other guests watched exhibitors in their craft demonstration. Government and private institutions offered potential tourists a list of their tourism packages, destinations, and attractions.
The event was organized by the Central Luzon Tourism Council and the Philippine Events and Themeparks Corp., together with the provinces of Aurora, Pampanga, Zambales, Tarlac, Bulacan, Bataan, and Nueva Ecija.
Event partners and sponsors include Philippine Tourism Authority, Clark Development Corporation, Clark International Airport Corporation, Philippine Gaming and Amusement Corporation, Manila North Tollways Corporation, CLTV 36, Manila Bulletin, Sun Star Pampanga and Punto Central Luzon.
