Mother and Child as Focus of 2008 National Assembly of Diabetes Educators

Safe pregnancy for diabetic mothers was the focus of this year’s National Assembly of Diabetes Educators held last November 10, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila in Quezon City.

Organized by the Philippine Center for Diabetes Education Foundation, Inc., (PCDEF, Inc.) the assembly carried the theme,” Mother and Child: the Clinical Challenge of Managing Diabetes during Pregnancy, Infancy, and Childhood”. It presented new updates for diabetes educators on the latest medical technology that can aid diabetic women in their pregnancy. It also gave importance on early identification of symptoms to children with diabetic mothers.

Acclaimed diabetes educators shared valuable information on nutrition, meal planning, blood sugar monitoring, as well as effective and safe use of insulin analogues and oral hypoglycemic agents.
